Algeria’s 2010 World Cup Team

With the 2010 Football World Cup looming, teams from all over the globe who qualified for participation in this event are making their preparations to compete in this anticipated football extravaganza. The Algerian football team has fought their way to the 2010 Football World Cup with tenacity and courage, and has just started to take part in warm up matches in preparation for the main event, which will be hosted in South Africa. The entire country will be supporting their team and encouraging them to perform at their best.

Affectionately known as the Desert Foxes (Les Fennecs), the Algerian football team is the national football team. Competing and training under the watchful eyes of the Federation Algerienne de Football, the Algerian team secured their place at the World Cup by enjoying a well deserved victory over Egypt, allowing them to be ranked at 29 on the FIFA world rankings. On the 3rd of March 2010, Algeria faced off against the White Eagles (Serbia) in a preparation match in Algiers, with the team consisting of Djebbour Rafik, Ghezzal Abdelkader Mohamed, Matmour Karim, Gaouaoui Lounes , Ousserir Mohamed , Zemmamouche Mohamed Lamine, Mansouri Yazid, Antar Yahia, Yebda Hassan, Abdoun Djamel , Ziani Karim, Amri Chadli, Lacen Mehdi Racing Santander, Raho Slimane, Bougherra Madjid, Laifaoui Abdelkader, Yahia Anther, Halliche Rafik, Zaoui Samir, Belhadj Nadir and Baabouche Reda. The next match of the three warm up matches will be against Ireland, hosted in Dublin, on the 28th of May 2010, and then onto the United Arab Emirates on the 4th of June 2010.

Due to Algeria being placed in Group C for the 2010 World Cup, they will come up against the United States, Slovenia and England. They will be playing their first World Cup match against Slovenia on the 13th of June, then look to playing against England on the 18th of June 2010, with their final match being against the United States of America on the 23rd of June 2010. This wonderful Algerian football team has already done their country proud by qualifying for the FIFA World Cup, but it will be interesting to see them advance as far as they can when they take on the world.
