SINGAPORE, Sept 16 (KUNA) -- Algerian Finance Minister Mourad Medelci described the level of the Arab economic growth as satisfactory in general and within the expectations of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

On the sidelines of the annual IMF and World Bank (WB) meetings, Medelci told KUNA that increasing the voting power of IMF member countries will open the door for other countries to take part in the decision-making, among them Arab countries.

The IMF is currently working on gaining the majority of votes to increase the quotas and the voting power of four of its members China, South Korea, Turkey and Mexico as a result of their economic development.

Meanwhile, Medelci described the support offered to Lebanon by international organizations among them the WB as "insufficient", noting that the Arab group in this framework will discuss this matter during the meetings.

On the contents of the unified Arab speech to be addressed at the official opening of the meetings next Tuesday on behalf of the Arab group, he said it will focus on the economic situation in the Arab region and means to boost the relation between the Arab countries and the IMF.

Finally, Medelci stressed the importance of developing the status of the Arab countries in light of the economic developments witnessed by these countries.
