Economic management mechanisms assessment

The World Bank special assessment on management mechanisms’ economic and political aspects revealed Algeria’s backwardness and deficiency in terms of the mastery of all indicators on which the international institution, together with main regional and international banks, based their survey.

Algeria’s backwardness has its origins in the prevalence of corruption, in bureaucracy and in an inappropriate business and investment atmosphere, in non-abidance by law, in the inefficiency of justice decisions as well as in banking sector vulnerability.

The 2006 general report on governance and management released by the World Bank, which relied on most important banks set standards as African Development Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, World Economic Forum and Gallup international institution unveils negative indicators for Algeria.

Moreover, the World Bank warns about financial and budgetary sources mis-management, and recommends narrowing down public expenditure and reducing the State’s role and weight in the economy and promoting a more effective role for the private sector.
