According to the 2006 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) released on Monday (November 6th) by Transparency International, Algeria is among the countries with a significant improvement in perceived levels of corruption, while Tunisia is among those with a significant worsening level.

Algeria was 84th with 3.1 points on a scale of ten, up from 2.8 points and 97th place in 2005. Mauritania, included for the first time in the survey, is also ranked 84th. Tunisia moved back to 51st place with 4.6 points from 43rd in 2005. Morocco is 79th with 3.2 points, one place back compared to 2005, while Libya is 105th with 2.7 points.
