    Yemen - Algeria business ties

    SANA'A, May 08 (Saba) - Chairman of the Public Authority for Investment (PAI) Abdul-Karim Muteir conferred Monday with the Jordanian ambassador to Sana'a Ahmad Jaradat mutual collaboration aspects between both countries in field of investment.

    The talks with the ambassador focused on the possibilities to establish Yemeni-Jordanian projects in field of education and marine navigation in the Red Sea to ease trade movement between the two countries.

    On the other hand, Muteir held a meeting with the Algerian charge' d 'affaires Mohammad Dirhab and discussed with him required procedures to activate investment agreement between both countries and prospects of exchanging visits between Yemeni and Algerian businessmen.

    Yemen, Algeria trade cooperation discussed

    SANA'A, June 11 (Saba)- The Yemeni and Algerian governments signed here on Sunday a minute that related to the exchange of the approved documents on the previously agreed trade agreement.

    The agreement will increase the trade exchange volume between the two countries for serving their joint interests.

    The agreement was signed by the chairman of the Conventions and Legal Affairs Department in the Ministry of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs
    Ghaleb Al-Adowfi, from the Yemeni side, and the Algerian ambassador to Sana'a, Sa'ad Bin Al-Abed.

    Algeria - Yemen trade ties


    SANA'A, January 27, 2008 (Saba)- Minister of Industry and Trade Yahya al-Mutawakel discussed on Sunday with the Algerian ambassador to Sana'a Saeed bin al-Abad the participation of Yemen in the trade exhibition which will be held in Algeria for period from 20th to 26th February, 2008.

    They also discussed opportunities of investment that will be discussed by Yemeni businessmen with their Algerian counterparts on the sidelines of the exhibition.

    SANA'A, March 8, 2008 (Saba)- Deputy Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Hesham Sharaf reviewed Saturday with the Algerian deputy ambassador to Yemen, Derhab al-Assad, the current arrangements for holding the 9th meeting of the Joint Yemeni-Algerian Committee (JYAC).

    During their meeting in Sana'a, Sharaf and al-Assad approved keeping on the joint meetings between the two sides to create more coordination and follow up all the cooperation fields and future topics that would be discussed during JYAC's meetings set to be held in the first half of 2008.

    The Algerian official valued the efforts that have been done by the Yemeni government to enhance and improve the brotherly relations between the two countries to serve the common interests of both countries.

    SANA'A, April 10, 2008 (Saba) - Preparations for the 9th round of the Yemeni-Algerian Joint Committee are going on to be held in Algeria's capital on April 27 - 29, the weekly 26september newspaper has said.

    The meetings to be co-chaired by minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Saleh Ba Surrah and his Algerian counterpart Rachid Harraoubia will discuss cooperation between the two countries in various fields.

    The two sides are expected to sign agreements for cooperation in different areas such as culture, education, health, transport, fish, sports, vocational training, encouraging investment and upgrading trade exchange between the two countries.

    Lundi 28 Juillet 2008 -- Les travaux de la 9e session de la commission mixte algéro-yéménite ont commencé, hier, à Alger. «Cette rencontre est une opportunité particulière pour hisser le niveau de la coopération bilatérale dans les différents secteurs au mieux des aspirations des peuples algérien et yéménite», a fait savoir d’emblée Rachid Harraoubia, ministre de l’Enseignement supérieur et de la Recherche scientifique, qui a co-présidé ces travaux, avec son homologue yéménite, M. Salah Ali Basra. La même source a précisé que cette entrevue vient quatre ans après la première rencontre, en indiquant qu’elle permettra de mettre en application des accords de coopération entre les deux pays. En effet, les deux parties ont procédé à la signature de 13 conventions et protocoles de coopération dans différents domaines englobant 12 secteurs, comme les mines, l’agriculture, la pêche, l’enseignement supérieur et les transports. Concernant ce dernier domaine, Alger et Sanaa comptent «réfléchir» sur l’ouverture d’une ligne aérienne directe entre les deux capitales. De son côté, la partie yéménite, par le biais de son représentant, tentera, via cette coopération, de mettre à profit l’immense expérience algérienne dans le secteur des hydrocarbures, mais également, de trouver le mécanisme pouvant revoir à la hausse les bourses universitaires en vue de relever le nombre d’étudiants yéménites en Algérie. S’agissant de l’aspect politique, M. Salah Ali Basra, tout en rendant hommage à la politique de réconciliation nationale initiée dans notre pays, a fait remarquer que le projet de l’Union pour la Méditerranée (UPM) «doit être exploité à l’avantage des Etats du Sud». La même source, pour qui l’Union du Maghreb arabe (UMA) doit être «relancée», a insisté, à propos du problème de Sahara occidental, pour un règlement pacifique conformément à la légalité internationale.

    SANA'A, May 26, 2009 (Saba) - The General Investment Authority (GIA) and the Algerian National Agency for Promotion of Investment discussed here on Wednesday cooperation relations in different fields. The meeting, co-chaired by GIA General Manager Marwan Farag Ben Ghanim and the Algerian Agency Director General Abdul-Karim al-Mansouri, dealt with the promotional activities carried out by GIA. The meeting discussed the importance of exchanging experiences between GIA and the Algerian National Agency according to the protocol signed between the two brotherly countries in 2004.

    The head of the promotion sector at GIA Muntaha Ali Muthana reviewed the benefits and facilities guaranteed by investment law for investors as well as the overall reforms in the investment sector. She also highlighted the GIA's plan to improve the investment environment based on four directions which are policy advocacy, setting up a positive image, attracting investors through a promotion strategy and facilitating investments.
