July 28, 2009 -- Local fashion design house The Art Revelation has clinched a deal with Algerian fashion company Welja, which is under the directorship of Boukhaloua Hafsa. The deal would see the two companies exchanging cultural fashion designs, which means Art Revelation would have its products exported to Algeria and sold through this company while the Algerian company would also do the same. The local company would also be exclusively supplied with special fabric made out of camel and sheep wool.
Art Revelation executive director Lovington Dlamini said this was one of the best achievements his company had made from its participation at the Pan African Festival which was held in Algeria recently. In an interview, Dlamini said he was very excited about the partnership his company has made with its Algerian counterparts. He said this was a result of the exhibition they held in that country. “What was the icing on the cake was the last fashion show we held as designers from the different countries. Our designs were stunning and the Algerian designer did not believe it. She did not hesitate to enter into an agreement with us and we are delighted about that,” said the local designer.
“What one can also add is the fact that once this agreement is implemented, which will be soon, our products will be different from the rest in that the fabric we will get from our counterparts is not easy to secure,” Dlamini said. He added that “the agreement entails that there shall be an exchange of cultures conveyed by clothes as this was one of the aims of the Pan African Festival. The Art Revelation would have a chance to export their ethnic inspired collection to Algeria and so would Hafsa. Welja has also agreed to supply The Art Revelation with its exclusive premium quality fabrics made out of camel and sheep wool. This fabric will definitely draw a clear line of distinction on the clothes made by The Art Revelation.”
The Algerian company specialises in Arab traditional robes and high quality dresses made of high quality fabric such as camel wool and sheep wool. At the festival, local designers were represented by Dlamini and S’phalele Magagula, who both did their best to fly the country’s flag sky-high by showcasing high quality designs which left a mark about Swaziland in the African continent. The three-week festival ended on a high note on Sunday night as the local designers and their counterparts from the other countries jointly organised a fashion show which was held at one of Algeria’s villages and attracted scores of viewers who admired the designs.
