CloneSpy - Windows only: Freeware app CloneSpy lets you compare the contents of any folders on your computer, then highlights any duplicate files.
It does this by scanning the files inside user-defined folders, then comparing checksums of the files. It doesn't matter to CloneSpy whether two files share the same name or not because CloneSpy is comparing the data within a file.

If you've been less than diligent in the past with organizing and keeping track of your files, CloneSpy could be just the tool to get a new lease on your My Documents life. If you want to compare Word and text documents and see their differences, try WinMerge. Mac users can check out previously-mentioned Mr.Clean.

CloneSpy is donationware, Windows only.




CloneSpy is a little utility that will do just that for you, and it provides enough options to make sure that when you finally do decide to delete some duplicates, it's the right ones that actually get deleted.
