salam Cheba Mami,
If you have 'System Restore' open it and select a checkpoint date just before the time You did the Windows update and then complete the restore process. This will take your PC back to 'pre-problem' status. When you reboot you can then re-install any urgent Windows updates, but take care to check which ones You are installing. Using 'System Restore' will only lose You any programs / updates installed in the few days between the checkpoint time and the time of the problematic update.

After all that mess, why not 'upgrade' to Opera, Safari, Flock... Firefox
and install the IE Tab extension?
Yalla, yalla, yalla, Cheba!

lol - cheba i have the same problem -- i can't completely ditch IE for firefox cuz there are some sites for school that won't work on firefox---- BUT, the damned thing ain't WORKIN'!! i dunno if it's a virus, or something because everything on my computer that uses IE (like msn messenger) doesn't work either...
I'm not looking for help here though - i need someone to freaking dig through my computer and find the problem (and fix it). I'm just here to rant

YAAAAY!! IT ALL WORKS AGAIN!!

It turns out ALL my problems where behind IE. I thought I had downloaded an updated one - but it turns out that I downloaded an older version via Google -- it TOTALLY messed me up. But then I went to the microsoft website and downloaded the *real* ~~legal~~ IE7 -- everything magically worked! I can't beleive it took me that long to figure it out!!
Cheba - just use firefox
