    I can answer some.

Olive Oil by FAR !!!! Its so popular in Algeria, especially with so much olives growing.

Coffee over tea and others. Life doesnt function without coffee twice a day (in the morning and about 2-3).

Lamb/Beef: I dont know what the difference is. However, i know Algerians would prefer Sheep (im guessing thats lamb). However, with lack of money its not eaten much.

Spicy: definately spicy. We have Harissa to take care of that.

PS. There is no rice in Algeria, and its barely ever eaten.

    olive oil tops them all...

not much rice in algeria .... we have other types of carbs/pastas, like tli tli, trida, chakchukha.. i dont noe what theyre called in english if there are in english..

i think beef is the most popular of teh meats... but when i went this summer ... some times we had rooster :P

cheese is popular, al baqra li tadhak is a popular brand... dont noe how its called in french.... milk is used but not alone... usually with tea or coffee.... yogurt is in algeria... all types...

sugar (or sukar in arabic) is def used in tea havent really seen brown sugar there...

both coffee (qahwa in arabic) and tea (shay in arabic) are a big thing there... in the morning and again in the afternoon

pork is not eaten cause muslims arent allowed to eat pork..

    hope that helps a little

Exuse me Tony ?? we eat rice in Oran Almost once a week . Mom buys either Basmati or American rice (does not stick) she makes it with chicken style rissotto , or she makes it with Prawns and peppers and it tastes like Paella . and sometimes she makes us Chicken brochettes , with plain rice on the side with a tomato sauce to go with it .. There is plenty of rice in Oran Supermarkets and market by the way .
