    Desi Chai

    Salam all!

Does anyone here know how to make Desi chai (indian/pakistani chai)? I was talking to my friend and she was describing how their chai tastes like -- my mouth was watering -- bas unfortunately she doesn't know what they put in it...

hey im half desi! Yeah i know how to make it...make it all the time! Well, you boil water, add tea powder, tea masala, cardommom seeds, cinammon sticks, cloves and sugar. Then milk and of course, sugar. Thats desi chai! We call it masala chai. It's awesome.

Hi BB, I am very much here, enjoying the discussions.

Hi DP, you have rightly described the masala tea.

But that is not what most people drink in India.

The most common one is tea with milk & sugar.

Mint Tea: Put a pinch of leaf tea in a glass.Add a sprig of fresh mint leaves. Add a little sugar.Pour boiling water, stir, cover it and keep for one minute.
    No milk, strictly.
    Allow it to settle.

Open the lid, do not filter.
    Wow.. what an aroma.
    Drink straight from the glass.

Add a slice of lemon & you have lemon tea.

    Hi BB,

Do you know that a rare blend of Assam high grown tea ( north east India) is bought by the Germans
for as much as US $ 150 per kilogram?

This tea is grown above 10000 feet above MSL.
Only the latest two sprouting leaves are plucked to make this tea.

Only very small quantity of this rare blend is available for connoissuers,
who are willing to pay exhorbitant price.

    This tea is divine.

Once, in a restaurant in Frankfurt-am-Main, I found 8 types of tea boxes
    kept for breakfast.
One can choose anyone and add hot water to brew her own tea.

Germans are great lovers of tea.
