BasbousaHarisa - Semolina Cake
This is a traditional middle eastern dessert. Semolina is the main ingredient.
*** Preheat oven to 180C degrees. ***
Sugar syrup:2 cups sugar
1 cup water
Dissolve over medium heat.
lemons, juice of
Add the lemon juice. Bring to boil. Reduce the heat. Boil for 10 minutes.
Set aside while you make the basboosa.
Cake:2 eggs
1 1/2 cup sugar
Beat.
3/4 cups oil
Add.
3 1/2 cups semolina
1 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1 pack vanille sugar
Stif.
3/4 cups orange juice (laban or milk)
Fold into batter, alternatelly.
20x30cm baking pan
Grease. Bake for 30-40 minutes.
Spoon cooled syrup over the hot cake.
Put the pan back in the oven for 5 minutes.
Cool and cut into diamond shapes.
Middle Eastern Coconut Cake (Hariseh)
This recipe yields a very moist cake that is traditional in the jordanian/ palestinian region.
2 eggs
1 cup sugar
Beat
3/4 cups oil
Add.
1 cup semolina
1 cup flour
1 cup shredded coconut
3 tsp. baking powder
Stif.
2 cup laban
Fold into batter, alternatelly.

You know I was just comparing my recipe with this one because my basbousa turns out a little crumbly and I see that yours has eggs. The recipe I use doesn't, so I might try that.
I don't have the benefit of having tried it made by anyone else, so I've wondered - is it meant to be a bit crumbly? It turns out tasty at least. Anyway I'll try the eggs.
