    Nice Algerian restaurant in London

    Salam everyone, saha randankem.

Can anyone suggest a nice Algerian restaurant in London?

Like nice food and interior design and good service.

Some of these places like to say they are moroccan places, so please feel free to recommend any north african places in general.

    Thanks

    Salam.

I am not in London, but I was there longtime ago and I still remember a couple of Algerian Restaurants. One of them is in Brixton just behind The Underground Station, you can eat there Shourba HHHHHHHHHH and many other Algerian food.
there is another one in Fainsburry Park, if you go there you wont miss it. just ask any one in the mosque.

    Saha Ramadankoum.

"The destination of choice for Crystal Palace connoisseurs, Numidie is a small, quirky place with mismatched furniture, old mirrors & bags of charm. Serge, the Algerian chef, creates authentic, superior North African dishes, & his French bistro fare is also impeccable. A starter of baby squid stuffed with prawns & crabmeat is juicy & deliciously garlicky. The lamb shank in the tagine algerois (lamb with artichoke hearts) sees a big hunk of meat that must be shoehorned into the pot. The fluffy Berber couscous comes with merguez sausage, calf’s liver & rough-hewn lamb chunks that are perfectly pink inside. The creme brulee has a fabulous brandy kick. Everything works: the staff are charming, there’s a thoughtfully assembled, good-value wine list, even the bread is noteworthy (homemade & spiced with anise). The basement bar feels more shabby-chic Paris than south London & is a hit in its own right."

For the best and most authentic Maghrebi cuisine, come to Al Casbah, Hampstead.

Al Casbah was opened in February 1998 by Farid Mehdid, an Algerian who has been living in this country since 1987. The restaurant is more than just a place to eat, with the ambience, decor and music as integral to the Casbah as the food. The decor is all brought over from Morocco or Algiers and we even have a Bedouin Lounge downstairs (available for private parties). What better way to get away from the daily grind of London life than to relax on the sofa after one of our couscous dishes, sipping a fresh mint tea whilst savouring the flavour of an apple shisha?

The music is all North African and mostly Rai.

    Food

All our kitchen staff are North African and our food is both cooked and served in a customary manner. Our menu consists of the traditional, staple fare of North Africa, our most popular dish being the mezza: a vegetarian selection of cold salads and dips (fellafels, tabouli, feta salad and humus) all served on a large wooden platter. The main dishes are couscous and tajines, and to finish off your meal we have home made backlawa, kelb el louz and other sweets.

There is no formality or routine to the Casbah, we like to let the customers decide the mood. So whether it be a mellow, relaxed evening listening to Lili Boniche or an impromptu live drum session to accompany the belly dancer, you are guaranteed to have a unique and fun evening out.

We take bookings Monday - Thursday at any time, but on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays we only accept bookings if they are for 7.00 pm.

    Call 7431 6356.

Our Bedouin Lounge is available for private parties.

We seat 30 people upstairs and a maximum of 40 people for private parties in the Bedouin Lounge. We accept Visa, Mastercard, Delta and Diners.

Directions: Left out of the Hampstead station less than 25 seconds away.
