Ingredients List :
Serves 10 ;Time :30 min ; Total Time :60;
Oven: ;
2 cup semolina
1 ˝ cup sugar
1 cup yoghurt
2 tsp baking powder
1 tbsp ghee (clarified butter or samna)
slivered almonds or hazelnuts (optional)
Sugar Syrup
2 cup sugar
2 cup water
1 tsp lemon juice
1 tbsp orange blossam water (mazahre) or rosewater (mawared);optional
Method :
Rub together the semolina with sugar with the ghee until mixture looks like fine breadcrumbs, and the fat is distributed evenly. Add baking powder and yoghurt, and mix well till you get a very soft dough.
Brush a 32-cmx3cm(depth) pizza tray lightly with ghee, pour mixture into it and level the surface well. Arrange nuts on surface decoratively (if using). Let rest for 1 hour.
Meanwhile , prepare syrup by adding sugar and water to a pan , stir on heat until sugar dissolves completely and syrup boils. Add lemon juice , and when syrup thickens a little remove from heat. Let cool before adding flavouring to taste (if using).
Bake in a preheated oven 180C for 30 to 35 minutes until done and rich golden in colour. Drizzle all the syrup evenly on top and put back in oven for 5 minutes till there is no syrup visible, don't leave it for too long or it will dry.
Let cool completely, before cutting into squares and serving.

In the Qur'an, Allah says:
"When My servants ask about Me, I am indeed close to them. I listen to the prayer of every supplicant, when he calls on Me.
Let them also, with a will, listen to My call, and believe in Me, so that they may walk in the right way" (Qur'an 2:186).
