Whenever I am in Tunisia and Algeria I always take my ”lablabi” with an egg and a good dose of harissa every morning for breakfast. C’est bien!

VOICI!
Lablabi
Ingredients
500 pois chiches
6 gousses d'ail
1 cuillère á soupe d'harissa
1 dl d'huile d'olive
1 cuillère á soupe de cumin
1 citron
Sel et poivre
In Algeria I think it is only found in the eastern part.

BREAKFAST only ....
LABLABI is eaten for breakfast and you won’t find it being served after the morning hours. I like to take my LABLABI from deep within the souk, where the smells of oriental spices are most intense.

LABLABI is described in English as a ”chick pea soup”. First you take a large piece of baguette and tear it into small bits. Toss them into a bowl and pour the LABLABI over it. A soft boiled egg is optional and that is thrown into the concoction as well. If you haven’t already given it your dose of harissa, then you may do so now. There it is! After eating a bowl of that stuff, you’ll be in a good fiddle all the way to lunch-time!
