July 20, 2009 -- If you find yourself with a sudden crêpes craving, D.C. is not always the best place to be. Sure, there are those guys over at Eastern Market who make them to order or La Crêperie at Pentagon Row. But it’s not like walking the streets of Paris … or even, apparently, Algeria.

Mourad Kacimi grew up in the former French colony where there is a small crêpe stand “on every corner.” He decided to bring the concept to the U.S., opening two locations of Crêpes-a-Go-Go in Dupont and Gaithersburg over the past five years. He is about to add a third to the mix.

Crêpes on the Walk will occupy a small 10-by-10-foot kiosk in the center of Gallery Place. It joins Auntie Ann’s Pretzels and Smoothie King as items soon-to-be available in the area between Clyde’s and Verizon Center. Kacimi says he is hoping, permits permitting, to open next month. His crepe operations include both savory and sweet varieties, as well as homemade gelato and coffee products.
