for making baklawa, i think it s a bit hard if you do it by your self for the first time, but if you got someone to help it very easy,
for the honey, you don t need to buy a real honey you need a sirop glucose instead with honey flavour, and if it is very thick you have to add some [about 1/3 cup] of hot water.
good luck,

Honey-flavored syrup
Hi Nissa,
Yes, I did take a one-time class, about a year ago, on how to make baklava/wa, and it was quite fun. The class was taught by 4 elderly Greek women and they made me laugh because the entire evening they seemed to be competing with each other about whose method of preparation was the best, and just exactly how much of any ingredient, or how many layers of pastry, would give the best results, which each said they had learnt from their grandmothers. One of them would show us to do something one way, and then another would come over and contradict it.
Overall, I enjoyed the occassion and my pan turned out well when I took it home and baked it. But I must admit that I have not made it again since then. I like your idea, though, about finding honey-flavored corn syrup instead of real honey...would probably make it all a little less expensive.
This year I am growing my own lavender...maybe I can try tossing in a little of that the next time I try to make a pan full of baklava/wa?
