Ingrédients:
For the dough:
* 500 g flour
* 150 g butter
* 1 egg
* 1 packet vanilla sugar
* Water + 1 tablespoon orange-flower water
* Pinch of salt
For the filling:
* 400 g ground almonds
* 100 sugar
* 4 eggs
*Honey
*Whole almonds
Method:
Mix the flour, salt, vanilla sugar and butter.
Add the egg and mix.
Add water and mix.
Add the orange-flower water and just enough water to bring all ingredients together as a soft dough. Knead well until smooth and elastic and leave to rest aside.
Meanwhile prepare the filling, ground almonds + sugar + eggs one at the time.
Shape into small balls about the size of an egg yolk.
On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough very thinly and cut into circles about 8 cm in diameter. Put a small ball of filling on each disc. Use your fingers to shape into a small 'basket' as in the picture.
Use a knife to draw a flower and decorate with a whole almond on top or according to your taste.
Note you can colour the dough as in the 2nd picture!
Oven cook for about 20 minutes.
Optional: Soak the sweets in tepid "honey" and leave to drain.
