Salam. As promised your recipe:
EMPANADAS (rough measurements here)
2 cups flour
1 tablespoon of salt
1 tablespoon sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 tablespoon of vegetable shortening
some cold water
Mix everything well together (dry ingredients) then add the shortening and knead everything with your hands. Now add the water, and knead some more. Cover dough and wait for 1/2 hours.
Okay, now flour the area where you're going to be working, roll out your dough and cut out (you can just a glass if you don't have a cutter)making about 4 1/2 inch cirles. Now will roller, roll the dough to stretch your circles and flatten them out. Place filling in the middle of each empanada. Wet the ends of the empanadas with some water and fold the dough over closing in the filling. Press the edges together with a fork to seal.
Bake about 15-20 minutes,or until brown. Alternatively, some ppl fry their empanadas...it's your choice.
Incha'Allah sis, you eat in good health.
