I was adopted but my grandfather was from algeria. my birth name is Lewis, my grandfathers name was Augustus lewis and his son was Arley David. I do not know how or where to even start a search for him. I know that he came to the U.S. before 1901 because that is when my dad was born. any input would be helpful. Thank you.

the best way to go about your search is to get in touch with the french archives,because they were taken care of all the administation aspect birth and death at that time.I am prety sure that this organisation will be helping you with all your request.
