I thought Algeria was a democracy, a secular state, why is this?” wearing the Hijab is not a prison sentence, just because a woman wears a veil does not mean she is by any means repressed. The Hijab is an expression of freedom but has come to be demonised by western media to symbolise repression.
Yeah me too. It's such a widespread attitude and I am sick to death of it...anyway, I'm going to keep reading and inshAllah find out how this ends - inshAllah well

Oh what a shame...no closure at all. What happened in the end - did anyone find out?

I feel awful about situations like that...although from the point of view of a revert to Islam I think sometimes we just get sick of the crappy biased against Islam attitudes of family, friends and the community. So while we are taught not to cut ties with family, sometimes family make it TOO HARD to continue ties.
