It's an Arab name and you can find bearers of the name in Algeria. There is some discussion about the name here.
Given the activities of the 'Barbary pirates' there's a good chance any Cornish 'Murad' came via Algiers![]()

Nice...I did read that earlier" one to be wished for" before my first name was change I was known as rachid...."Prince of Peace" ? I am not sure what it means ?

I'd say 'Rachid' would be better understood as meaning 'righteous'
Certainly not 'prince of peace'.
Incidentally, you will find people of the name Merad in several places in Algeria.
