Our daughter lives in Ireland and has an Algerian fiance. They were planning to marry this summer in Algeria - unfortunately the paper trail defeated them and so they set their minds to marrying next year in Ireland. Now she has returned to Ireland and he is stuck in Algeria - his Visa to join her has just been denied (she says they have to seek help from a solicitor - no details why). She has asked me to find information for her on emigrating to Algeria - any information/advice you can give would be much appreciated. Thank you

Salam, ya Maddy, welcome to Algeria.com
I was waiting to see if any Algerians would rush to offer advice, then you went off radar for a little while, but I see you're here with us again.
Information on emigrating to Algeria? I think she should treat that as a fairly long-term project - to jump into a totally unfamilar culture without language skills or any support networks outside her fiance and, hopefully, his family, would probably be very, very, very stressful.
Her fiance should be able to provide all advice about documentation required for a marriage, but there is doubtless another heap of paperwork to be processed before she can get to Algeria.
Do you have a list of precise questions?
(You can take your time, your daughter can be taking language classes while she waits for answers

The best things to do is to contact the Algerian embassy there In Ireland, and ask questions, without giving any names, just tell them it's a maybe, and that you are curious about the process, or you can also visit their website for info, they have most of it posted usually.
you can also contact your embassy in Algeria and do the same, those are the best ways to find out.
But for what I know, the best thing to do is maybe for her to go to Algeria to marry him there. then try to bring him back over, I believe it would be easier (as really nothing is so easy)
Good luck to them, and to you for helping them.

Thank you so much for your replies and advice - our daughter has just visited us for the weekend - she married her man in Algeria - halal ceremony in June, signed paperwork in July - the whole family made her very welcome and she has some lovely photographs of the occasion - a very quiet family affair rather than the whistles and bells we might have hoped for - she didn't want to tell us over the phone and she's very good at keeping secrets!!!! As she's 31 she is obviously capable of making up her own mind and we have to support her in her choices. The solicitor has advised that there should be no problems with an appeal for a visa - or it can be taken as a breach of her EU citizens rights.....it's just a case of wait and see. She's off to Algiers to see her husband for a short stay next week :-)
Algeria is a very beautiful country
