noody ever herad about them or their civilistion, i personnally don't believe that they had a nation at any period of time in the history. i'm half berber, and i thank god that the arabs came to algeria 1400 years ago to export civilisation to us and more then that , religion.
so stop being proud of being "nobody"!!!!
The fact that the Arabs brought religion to the kabyles is very important. However, these are the roots of Algeria. How can you not be proud of them? whether you are arab or not it doesnt change the fact that these people were there back in the day before the Arabs. Im proud to be Kabyle but im also proud of being Arab and Algerian and Muslim. Plus, dont forget the 'Barbary (berber) Pirates,' if the kabyles were nobodies then why were they infamous in the mediterranean ? They even had a war with the US in 1815 (i think thats the year).

    u must be ill!
seriously to not be proud of being kabyle is wrong!.. its true kabyles are the true roots of algeria so you should be proud of them... and if the nation so called doesnt exsists... is that why in all weddings the bride wears jubacabyle!!!!(kabyle dress)!... and also is that why everyone knows the song zama zama and most of idir's songs?!
me too im half kabyle but i couldnt think of a better nationality!!!!!
i think you need to rethink what you just said... and remember afus deg wfus de kablye..hand in hand for kabyles

Thanks tony for trying to tone down this discussion back into reason and acceptance of the other.

saha algerian_gal, I like your devotion to DZ and the energy that beams out of your posts (some times) but I must say the arguments about ZA3MA ZA3MA is a bit ... streached

I mean no song nor dress for that matter is a proof of origin. For if knowledge of Zama Zama makes all people kabyle, then what should I say of all those who in algeria and actually in the world sing "di-di", "Aicha", "Abdel-kader" & "Ya-El Raiah". All these songs are in arabic and sang by "as far as I know" arab algerians. Does the fact that you enjoy or sing along any of these make you an Arab?

You are right about the wedding dress (I don't know if its in all weddings) but it is in alot of non-kabyle weddings, just like the Ks'entini and other dresses. I think this is one popular demonstration of not giving a "Click" about regionalism and that the most important in all these dresses is that they originate from Algeria and its rich cultural mix.

    Boualem-DZ

PS: Za3ma Za3ma is actually as you already know an arabic word
    from Za3ma (past), Ta/Yaz3amou (present), Za3m<oun/en/in>

Cool what exactly i being discussed here!!!

Are we discusssing who is more algerian than the others.. kabyle, chaoui, arab, pied-noir, touager, mozabit, ottoman descendance, and so many others...!!!!!!!
are we discussing who's heritage is more present, more relevant...!!!!!!!!!!.
Lets just be proud of every once of history we have.. its all relavant... including the Roman and the French.. its all part of what we are.. our richness...
lets be inclusive and not exclusive..lets be human and a little humble...!!

So are you still willing to discuss the if the Dress is kabyle, chaoui or Arab!!! is it really reallly worth it?

Now I am not sure to whom exactly you are replying to but I would just want to clarify my position, since I spoke about the dress too.

If it was unclear above, then let me say that I was trying to make the "inclusive" point and undersocre that even the dress mixing if it demonstrates anything, it must be the instinct of including all of us.
