a virus does not see any religion, it infects all he can infect.

i understand your question though. I do not think it is higher in the muslim population. It's high in the areas where people have unsafe sex, marry (or have relations with) infected people and have children who are infected as well if one of the partners is infected, bad blood transfusions - with infected blood -, etc. And in such areas all kinds of people are present.

people should do their best to live a good life and do all they can to prevent getting HIV infected.

I believe the % is high in African countries.

It may be because of low personal hygiene, unsafe sex, high level of sexual promiscuity, lower health care facilities and loose morals.

However it would be interesting if anyone can find out the stats. religionwise.

    Hello Sania,
Interesting question, but I doubt there exist any reliable stat of HIV from religious groups prespective. If you say, as an example, that you are 95% confident that 0.1% of the Muslim population is infected with the HIV desease, this only means that you have taken a population of a couple of thousands of Muslims and counted the number of HIV infected people. The number of HIV infected Algerians or muslims, as a publicaly available information, is always underestimated, this is still a social taboo.
Even if you are able to find 2000 Muslims open enough to such confessions (which is not evident), this number cannot be representative of more than one billion people. That's why it is hard to generalize a traditional statistics concept to real life situations. Wa Allahu A3lam.

May be someone in WHO or UN can help.

They can even compute this statistics from available data of incidence of HIV among various geo-social clusters.

Or someone in the AIDS eradication programs can do.

That is a swell link AK.
You are very helpful, as usual.
    Thanks.

Is there any reference of this desease in the Holy Quran..? Torah..? Bible..?

It should have found a mention in these scriptures since this is a repulsive and deadly desease connected with sexual morality.
And in olden days, more than 2000 years back, personal hygiene, medicare, sexual morality, knowledge were all too low than now,
and this desease should have been prevalent in those days.
