.
Salaam everyone,
If you have a curious mind about the intricate nuts and bolts of the physical phenomena that shape our world then put science to the test here, with fun experiments you can try at home
Here's a starter you can try:
Dancing raisins
You need:
Glass/bottle
Soda water
Raisins
Procedure:
Fill a glass or bottle half full with soda water. Drop three or four raisins into the water. Wait.
What happens? Why?

yes... i love figuring stuff like this out....
but put something more chemical!! I'm completely at loss for what to say to this experiment. Cheba's explanation makes sense but I feel like there's more to it than that....
Shotokan - get back to posting more riddles, will ya?

2 NaHCO3 --> Na2CO3 + H2O + CO2 (gas)
soda is actually Na2CO3 but what happens is C02 / carbondioxide is made and that gass can lift the raisin if in more volume (that can be a few bulbbles together) than the raisin.
if the gass dissapears to air the raisins are released. (goes down)
C02 in water (h20) does not have to be stable

it also depends on the pH which changes in time after adding soda due to the reactions:
co2 gas in water ->H2CO3 (carbonic acid).
which can form HCO3- (bicarbonate) and CO32-(carbonate dependent on pH).
it's not a one way reaction, this happens back and forth. thus when the CO2 'degrades' to other compounds the raisin goes down.
