Yesterday, 300 hakis demonstrated in France against one Socialist deputy who declared that "harkis are dumb to think the colonisation had a positive effect". Of course this comes after their association stated that the 23 february law was ok and right!
They don't even regret their betrayal

I think of Chalabi's militia

Seriously, those guys are going to be like Vietnam vets were in the U.S.A. for a time when the public mood shifted to one of shame about the conflict.
Their 'after all we did for you' won't count for much if the current French debate over colonialism and its effects goes the wrong way for them.

They shouldn't be disappointed/surprised for they have been misconsidered by the french since their arrival to France after the revolution... Even the harki immigrants had a relatively better fate.
All this harki issue is raised by France. They must feel some guilt toward them and the only solution they found is to aks algerian, not only to forgive them, but beg their pardon! What a joke

Some joke. I have read enough about the Algerian struggle for independence to know of the death and misery brought to countless thousands, the helicopters dropping the dead into the sea, the torture and everything else.
Asking anyone to ask forgiveness from a group that not only facilitated these things but actively joined in with them in an effort to prevent an independent Algeria from freeing itself is just sick.

Of course, one can say it was non-human that the FLN members kill the harkis after we won the war and that they'd better had them all sent to France; but the FLNs guys r human and many of them killed the harkis they personnally knew, out of hatred, revenge, resentment, and well, someoone who betray his country is not really worth to live...
But those who left, why would we ask for their pardon?? if they really loves their country they wouldn't have betrayed it for a bit of consideration and a slightly better life, unless it was out of fear...
Btw, many harkis r still living in Algeria and the ppl their know them, so I am sure they prefer if they left like their friends....

I can recall one day in the 80s, there was a meeting in one baladiya (i can't name it for obvious reasons). The orator started his speech saying "ayyatouha al ardh attayyiba...etc", one of the FLM qasma members was surprised and called al mouhafadha.... A few minutes later, the orator had to stop coz got a call.
After he came back, he resumed: "ayyatouha al ardh al khabitha"
This baladiya was in fact known for being the mother land for many many harka...
Sorry Djamel for this off-topic but thought it worth to share....
