Oh My... That guy with his sly remarks
I was enjoying the images but that guy ...ekh!
In the Qur'an, Allah says:
"When My servants ask about Me, I am indeed close to them. I listen to the prayer of every supplicant, when he calls on Me.
Let them also, with a will, listen to My call, and believe in Me, so that they may walk in the right way" (Qur'an 2:186).

Thanks for the video. That was the consequence of 100 years of civilization on the algerian people.
The narrator was really inspired....Last edited by mohovitch; 13th May 2008 at 08:34.

The narration was disgusting, eh? The clip is an interesting historical record of times gone, but the narration was smug, racist and patronizing - and it completely overlooked the historical context in Algeria. The U.S.A. of the 1930s had its own major pockets of poverty and human misery and something of the 'enlightened' attitude people like the narrator held towards other races can be understood when we remember that lynchings were still happening there during the same period. (Warning - there are some graphic images on display at that site).
The scenes of poverty in Algeria and the narration are both products of a racist mindset that considered itself 'civilized' and people of other races to be 'inferior'. Whether in the 'old world' or the 'new world' such a mindset was and is ignorant and disgusting.
