September 1, 2009 -- Algerian state television and a production company in Azerbaijan plan to film documentaries in Turkey, the General Directorate of Press and Information has announced. A team from Algerian state television will document the life of Amir Abdelkader, one of the leading figures in Algeria's independence struggle who lived in Bursa from 1852 to 1855, and his life in Bursa, according to a written statement released by the directorate. After completing their work in Bursa, the team will go to İstanbul and make recordings in an attempt to highlight the historical relationship between Turkey and Algeria and to introduce Turkey's history, culture and nature to their audience. The Azerbaijani company, on the other hand, will make a documentary on Turkey's Independence War, covering the years from 1919 to 1922. Filming for the project, named “Çanakkale'den Başlayan Yol” (The Road Starting from Çanakkale), will take place in the provinces of Ankara, İstanbul and Çanakkale. The directorate's chairman, Salih Melek, noted in his press release that they are helping both teams obtain accreditation and filming permission in order to make their work easier.
