Hello JayCee
El Emir Abdelkader El Jazairi, is considered as the founder of modern Algeria. I don't know how much you "don't know" about him cause, he is one of the first things we get to learn about in the algerian schools. Any how he is famous among other things for having already at the age of 25 build a nation! With its own administrations, banks, weapons factories, kadis (Judges), schools, hospitals and so on. He also was a very talented war planner and realised quickly that conventional warfare was a no show infornt of an enemy much better equiped and trained. So he relayed and developped a number of what is today called guerilla warfare technics. His campaigns were so successful that the enemy had to sign a pact with him. This pact recognised his governance over some part of algeria, with well defined boarders and so on. He was a noble man who imposed respect even upon his enemies. Unfortunatly the french betrayed their own word (agreements) and applied the rule of the burned land, forcing populations to move from agricultural areas to far a way stone lands. Among other things these campagins led by the french caused starvation and ravaged the economy. After several decades of resitance the Emir was put under house arrest first in France, but then was allowed to go into exile in Syria which was his wish, and where he later died.
There was one incident which I don't really know well, but where muslims and christian in Syria, came in to some dispute, and the muslims started hunting down christians. It is reported by foreign diplomats of the time, that El Emir opened the doors of his residency to christians fleeing the muslims, and granted them his protection. Being a notoriouis figure, this helped saving hundreds of christian lives. Remeber the Emir is muslim, he was only acting with his concious. I think that it was at this in recognition for this humanitarian gesture that the name Abd El Kader was given to some city/village? in the states.
From what I know he is a person you should really learn to know about.
Now, if you are any where in the states and want to know more, then just contact your algerian embassador, Idriss el Jazairi, he is the grand son of El Emir, and he chairs the Emir Abde El Kader foundation whith headquarters in Mostoghanem (Algeria-DZ), where the Emir was born. Mr Idriss is a very nice man, he will be more than pleased to communicate this wealth to any one who would care to preserve it.
Regards

A revisionist named Opiné.
A revisionist named Opiné.
What???
I have never read such a slum of distortion in my life. Not even the french dared to distort it that much.
Usually it takes time, and careful attention to details to re-Write history, and yet fail at it. Your collection of rubbish only demonstrates your ignorance to your countries history, your peoples strugle but above all it demonstrates that you re-wrote Abdelkaders history "on the fly". Well you want to beleive that Abdel was not the founding father of our nation, free to you, you want to even make a berber marabou out of him, shame on you. But such positngs will not change anything to the equation, nor its variables and especially not its constants!
Buy a history book next time!

Who ever claimed that the thowra didn't take place in Al Aures and in Kabylie?
I am not the revisionist here. But the fat lie that Abdelkader was asspiring to become a duke, there is only you to write such a book.
And even if Napoleon had a plan, why would that suggest that Abdelkader the founding father of the algerian nation would have anything to do with it?
And you seem to be proud of not reading, that sounds smart. Then you say that all you know about our history you heard on some café in some village, well that makes it very credible and thus you must be very objectif right?
Once again open a book and your mind. Not all books are good for your health, but its healthy to read.
