I have posted this question in another forum, but got no reply:
J'ai jamais compris pourquoi les algeriens ont-ils combattue
avec les francais? Ils pouvaient bien utiliser ses armes
contres les francais !!, el harbou khida3, c’etait le moment
ou jamais !
cheap wrong translation :
I never understood why did the algerians help the french in their wars (ex: in the 2.nd world war) ?? Couldn't they just cheat the french and use their arms against them? How could they ever beleive the french that promiossed them idependance, that turned out to be foolish, since they just killed 45 thousands, when Algerians reclaimed their liberty in May the 8.th of 1945?
PS: I am zero in history, and from the "new" generation that learned it from schools' programs, and BTW I always got bad grades![]()

From what i know (not much lol), the FLN started its war in the early to mid 50's (around 52 i think). Before that the Algerians werent at the point of war with the French, especially at a time like world war 2 where there many many jobs for Algerians in France and the economy was moving along nicely.
I might be wrong but i think thats why.

As far as I know at that time the French promised the Algerian?s for independence, also at that time, not a lot of Algerian?s wanted France to leave the country as they where all with job?s and French nationality, Algerians never used to have that many problem?s with the French but after 8 may things have changed and Algerians started calling for there independent, and if you ask me they didn?t cheated and used there arms against the French because they knew that the French well turn they anger against the Algerians in Algeria,,,,, this is all I know I learnt it along time ago at primary school so I can?t guarantee you this information is write,
But I well try and ask for more info.

Kareem UK you should write for the Sun And As you said
<<Try and ask for more info>>
Before saying stupidities.
I was wondering from where did you get this information “ from A pied Noir???”
Saying that
<< At that time, not a lot of Algerians wanted France to leave as they were all with Jobs, and French Nationality...>> ??
You must be Talking about the Harkis then? Or The Jews (Pied Noir) who, wherever they are, always side with those in power.

Thanks amino66, that was well replied.
regarding Abdu23's question.
Simply put, the Algerians did fight, since the invasion of 1830. And a lot did try to use their weapons against the French as you suggested during the 1st and 2nd world war. However, before the start of the November revolution, the Algerians were suffering from organisational failure, not a lack of will. We have had several glory revolts all over the country through out the occupation, where Algerians demonstrated bravery and abnegation. These failed and succeeded. They failed
1) as a result of the overwhelming French military superiority in terms of equipment and training (not bravery)
2) as a result of lack of coordination with rest of the country.
They succeeded in punctuating the period of occupation with popular revolts and reminders of the Algerian rejection of the occupiers, and thus undermining any attempt to legitimate their presence.
The final frustration that lead to the creation of the OS (Secret Organisation) which gave birth to the FLN (National Liberation Front) and its glorious ALN (National Liberation Army) were the events of May 8th 1945, when the French betraying their promise to restoring sovereignty to Algeria after their own independence from Nazi Germany, went carrying on their worst slaughter ever. More than 45 000 people massacred within less than a week of riots in Stif, Guelma and Kherata. The OS then took the time to plan, organise, and finance the upcoming revolution.
On the 1st of November 1954. The first bullet lighted the skies of a revolting and revolted Algeria, to never cease until the dawn of independence (Jully 1962)
