Celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the outbreak of November 1st, 1954 Revolution

The main stages of the Algerian Revolution were at the heart of “November, a Journey toward Dignity,” an imposing show made up of five frescoes performed Sunday evening at the dome of Mohamed Boudiaf sports complex and attended by President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika, for the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the outbreak of November 1st, 1954 Revolution.
This show, staged by Lebanese director Abdelhalim Caracalla and performed by some 300 artists, including the diva of Algerian music, Warda El Djazairia, kicked off with paintings highlighting Algeria’s beauty and recounting its multi-millennial history.

The different frescoes, which followed one another harmoniously, then recalled the long colonial night, highlighting in the mean time the Algeria people’s relentless struggle against colonialism.

This colourful and musical show, with different Algerian music types majestically performed by artists, including young talents, underscored the courage and bravery of the war veterans and the sacrifice of the martyrs.

The play, to which many artists from sister and friendly countries contributed, such as designers Ezio Frigero and Giuliano Spinelli, composers Reza Aligholi and Salah El Charnoubi, and wardrobe mistress Nouria Carasco, also touched on independence and the people’s jubilation.

This tribute to the martyrs and war veterans of the Algerian revolution wound up with “Biladi” (My Country), a song performed emotionally by Warda El Djazairia, who was rewarded the national order of merit by the President of the Republic.
