    Question

I have seen on some records provided by Geneanet-France that there were Algerians living in France during the Nazi occupation. I wonder how these people were treated during this time, especially by the Nazis and their views on 'race' ?
Does anyone have any stories or info about this time ?
I will try to find the link to Geneanet-France and post.

    Salam

Not really about the Nazi's but Algerians have been in France since the 1800's and even earlier!

All i know is that ALgerians served under France in World War II as well as Moroccans, Tunisians and Sub-Saharan Africans. They have a commemeration plaque in Strasbourg for a battalion from Algeria.

    Salam, TonyStarks!

Thankyou, that's fascinating about the plaque, it's good that we have this recognition!!!
I have found records of Algerians and Moroccans in France as early as the late 1600s! I was surprised when I found this.

Also, GOTB stated in another thread about at Ellis Island, the records office, their is an old photo of an Algerian guy who came to America in the early 1800s!!!

(I am beginning to think that everyone in the whole world may have some Algerian blood! )

    Take Care!

When you look at the populations of certain parts of Cornwall and especially Ireland it does make you think!
There has been the legend of the 'black Irish' especially for years. They have certainly found Iberian (Southern Spain) DNA in these people.
The legend of the 'Claddagh' ring is interesting.
(I know it's sounds like a big conspiracy theory for some, but you can never totally dismiss these 'stories', one day they will get proof)

Also this is interesting, again, nonsense to some, but time will tell!

Even if it is a load of old rubbish, still, it makes you think, hey ?

Really ? I know people who are 100% Irish and have the surname Houarahine, they say it's derived from a Moorish name. It's a quite common surname there, it does have a certain North African sound to it though ?
