Algerian actor Mohamed Benguettaf is one of a number of Arab playwrights, actors and theatre critics to be honoured during the 6th Arab Theatre Festival which opened Wednesday (March 7th) in Cairo. Benguettaf will be recognized for his contribution to the development and modernization of Algerian and Arab theatre, festival president Amr Douara said. Twenty troupes from ten Arab countries will perform at the festival. Algeria will be represented by the Setif theatre troupe performing "The Rhythm", written by Abdelmalek Boushil and directed by Nabil Bensekka. Egyptian actor Mohamed Sobhi will preside over the festival's panel of judges.
