Naasan Agha chairs meeting for Algerian Cultural Week

Damascus, June 5, 2008 (SANA)- Minister of Culture Riad Naasan Agha on Thursday chaired a preparatory meeting for opening the house of Emir Abdul-Kader Aljazaeri as a museum simultaneously with holding the meetings of the Syrian –Algerian Higher Committee.

The museum will be opened officially by the prime ministers of both countries, starting off the Algerian cultural week in Damascus at the end of this month.

The minister stressed the importance of the development of bilateral cultural relations between the peoples of both countries, pointing out Syria's contribution to the festivity of Algiers as the Capital of Arab Culture last year by the organization of a Syrian cultural week which included series of cultural activities.

During the Algerian cultural week which will be held in the framework of the festivity of Damascus as the Capital of Arab Culture for the year 2008, a number of cultural and art activities are scheduled to be organized.

Emir Abdul-Kader Jazaeri, was the 1st to resist the French occupation of Algeria, and his diplomacy after his exile is one to remember. He chose Syria where he lived after his exile from Algeria.

Le ministre de la culture préside une réunion préparatoire de la semaine culturelle algérienne à Damas

Damas, Jeudi 5 juin 2008 (SANA) M. Ryad Naassan Agha, a présidé ce matin une réunion de travail pour préparer l'inauguration de la maison de l'Emir Abdal Qader al-Jazaéri à Damas, qui se ferait, conjointement avec l'ouverture de la semaine culturelle algérienne, en marge des réunions du haut comité mixte syro-algérien.

Les chefs du gouvernement des deux pays inaugureront en fin du mois courant la maison de ce grand militant algérien à Damas, ainsi que la semaine culturelle algérienne, organisée en Syrie dans le cadre de la festivité de Damas, capitale de la culture arabe 2008, et qui propose un nombre d'activités culturelles reflétant le mouvement culturel, littéraire et artistique dans ce pays frère.

M. Naassan Agha a affirmé à cette occasion l'importance de l'évolution des relations culturelles syro-algériennes ce qui aura des effets positifs sur les relations entre les deux peuples frères en général.

On sait que le ministère syrien de la culture avait contribué l'année dernière à la festivité d'Alger, capitale de la culture arabe 2007, par une semaine culturelle qui avait donné des présentations de théâtre, et organisé des soirées culturelles, des expositions, des films et des spectacles folkloriques.

وزارة الثقافة تحضر لأسبوع الثقافة الجزائرية بدمشق

ترأس الدكتور رياض نعسان آغا وزير الثقافة في مبنى الوزارة صباح اليوم اجتماع عمل تحضيراًَ لافتتاح منزل الأمير عبد القادر الجزائري في دمشق أمام الزوار بعد ترميمه تزامناً مع اجتماعات اللجنة العليا السورية الجزائرية المشتركة حيث سيقوم رئيسا الوزراء في البلدين الشقيقين بافتتاحه رسمياً وافتتاح أسبوع الثقافة الجزائرية بدمشق أواخر الشهر الجاري.

وأكد وزير الثقافة أهمية تنمية العلاقات الثقافية بين سورية والجزائر ما يعزز العلاقات الأخوية القائمة بين الشعبين الشقيقين مشيراً إلى أن وزارة الثقافة السورية أسهمت في احتفالية الجزائر عاصمة الثقافة العربية خلال العام الماضي بأسبوع ثقافي سوري في الجزائر إضافة إلى سلسلة من النشاطات المسرحية والندوات والأمسيات والمعارض والافلام السينمائية والعروض التراثية الفولكلورية تطبيقاً لاتفاق التعاون الثقافي بين وزارتي الثقافة في كل من سورية والجزائر.

وستقدم خلال الاسبوع الثقافي الجزائري في سورية احتفاء باحتفالية دمشق عاصمة الثقافة العربية 2008 مجموعة من النشاطات الثقافية والفنية التي تعكس واقع الحركة الفنية والأدبية والفكرية في الجزائر.

والأمير عبد القادر الجزائري من مواليد عام1807 وهو مناضل عرف بمناهضته للاحتلال الفرنسي لبلاده وقد استقر في دمشق منذ عام 1856حتى وفاته عام 1883 ودفن بجوار الشيخ إبن عربي في حي الصالحية بدمشق وبعد استقلال الجزائر نقل جثمانه إلى بلاده عام 1965.

Algerian Culture Days open at Opera House in Damascus

Damascus, July 1, 2008 (SANA) -- Minister of Culture Dr. Riad Naasan Agha and his Algerian counterpart Khalida Toumi opened the Algerian Culture Days at the Opera House in Damascus as part of 'Damascus: Capital of Arab Culture 2008' festivity.

Minister Naasan Agha stressed in his speech that both countries were tied by a deep-rooted history of amity under the banner of Arabism and Islam.

Minister Toumi said in a similar speech that "we came to Syria the country of dignity and pride and strongest pillar of Arabism and civilization.

Both ministers had already opened an exhibition of Algerian plastic art at the Opera. An Algerian musical group performed a concert as part of the Culture Days.
