TUNIS, April 9, 2009 (TAP) -- Under the theme "Paces of identity in culture and arts", the 15th session of the Kairouan International Spring Festival, held this year on April 10-14, 2009, coincides with the celebration of Kairouan, Capital of Islamic Culture.
A rich programme was prepared on this occasion. The opening of the event is due on Friday with an artistic show ''Znaki wa Hikayat'' in addition to the screening of the film "Trente" of Fadhel Jaziri, the inauguration of a huge mural fresco in Mosaics, Qur'an reproduction on blue parchment, at the Culture Avenue, carried out in association with the Kairouan Higher Arts Institute.
A plastic arts exhibition is also to be inaugurated at Mohamed Hlioui Hall, called '' In Kairouan, City of Memory''.
The session is to be marked by the organisation of a symposium as a "cultural forum" on April 11, comprising several sessions on plastic arts, poetry, music, cinema and theatre, with the participation of writers and artists from Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, United Arab Emirates and the Sultanate of Oman.
The meeting is to be followed by an evening devoted to Arab poetry with the participation of poets from Tunisia, Lebanon, Palestine and the United Arab Emirates.
These sessions continue on April 12, while music fans seize the opportunity to attend in the same day the ''Wachm'' concert by singer Zohra Lajnef, and a traditional costume parade initiated by the Monastir Higher Fashion Institute.
April 13 will be marked by the organisation of a symposium on the theme "Paces of identity in the Arab-Islamic Culture" in the Rakkada Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences.
The symposium includes several communications by Tunisian and Arab academics and intellectuals on issues pertaining to identity and belonging.
''Atchane Ya Sabaya'' a play of the director Saber El Hammi, and a production of the Sfax Centre of Dramatic Arts is due on the same day.
On April 14, the works of the symposium on "Paces of identity in Arab-Islamic Culture" continue, followed by a poetic show animated by Houcine Kahouaji, with the participation of poets from Tunisia, Saudi Arabia and Lebanon.

April 10, 2009 -- Under the theme "Paces of identity in culture and arts", the 15th session of the Kairouan International Spring Festival opened on Friday (April 10th), TAP reported. Writers and artists from Algeria, Egypt, Lebanon, Syria and other countries will participate in several symposiums through April 14th.
