December 4, 2009 -- The central Tunisia oasis town of Douz will host the 42nd International Festival of the Sahara on December 27th. The four-day event will feature Berber dancing, Bedouin horse races and other traditional offerings. Each year, the festival draws thousands of international visitors eager to see nearby Matmata and other locations from the Star Wars movies. An international conference will also be offered by the Ben Ali Chair for the Dialogue of Civilisations and Religions.

December 28, 2009 -- The 42nd International Sahara Festival kicked off on Sunday (December 27th) in the Tunisian oasis town of Souz, TAP reported. The opening spectacular featured folk troupes from Libya, Algeria, Egypt and Tunisia. The event, set to run through December 30th, will include Berber dancing, sloughi dog demonstrations, horse and camel races, art shows and other events illustrating Sahrawi cultural traditions. Each year, the festival draws thousands of international visitors eager to see nearby Matmata and other locations from the Star Wars movies.
