June 6, 2007 -- In the closing session of the international forum on Arabic language, held yesterday at the Aurassi hotel here in Algiers, all the experts came to the conclusion that the linguistic situation was not good at all, due to dissensions and the scientific backwardness that prevails in Arab societies.

All the experts in this forum insisted on the fact that there should a sacred union for the revival of the Arabic language, because the value of the language is closely related to the social, cultural and political context. They also suggested focussing on local dialects, which they saw as a formidable reservoir, likely to help develop the language.
