I am still trying to learn Arabic, and I'm learning the script too.

One problem I have, other than remembering/ recognising it, is the fact you write, right to left.

I have problems with this as I am right handed, and I keep smudging what I have written.

    Any helpful tips?

Anyone else have problems learning Arabic script ?

We could maybe use this thread to provide info and help to non native Arabic speakers ?

BTW, I've learned some more Derja, so I'll post some more soon LOL!

I am right handed as well, I always smudge my writing. You get used to it over time, you will figure ways to write neatly, or at least I did. When I was in primary school, I made sure my hand was under the line I was writing on so it would not come into contact with the words I was writing. Also, move your hand over when ever you write a word so you dont get all cramped up and such. I hate writing by hand because my penmanship is terrible and I had juveile arthritis so it was always all cramped. Arabic to me was not hard to learn, it was pretty easy I think, but that is becuse I did it from childhood. It is better to speak a language first and then learn to write it, but learn the alphabet while youa re speaking it. This way it will be easier to learn writing.

the trick is to hold the pencil over the paper at a 40/30 degree angle so it won't smudge....

    hope this helped...
