Has anyone read any of his books (YK is a pen name). I just read the Swallows of Kabul and it was very moving.
Also, does anyone know of any other Algerian authors (other than Assia Djbar, I'm familiar with her) whose work is translated into English?
thanks!

Kateb Yacine's 'Nedjma' is available in English translation. Yasmina Khadra is actually Mohammed Moulessehoul, an ex-army officer, sa7?

Here's a link to an article by an academic who is working on a translation of Rachid Boudjedra’s “Ma‘rakat az-zuqaq” into English:
http://french.rutgers.edu/faculty/fac-serrano.htm
Here's a link containing some information about Yacine:

I think 'Nedjma' was published in English some time in the early 1990's.

3afwan ya liberté, you are welcome.
You should add to your list the following Algerian writers who have also been translated into English:
Tahir Wattar, Rabah Belamri, Mouloud Feraoun, Anouar Benmalek and Fadhma Arouche.
Try a Google search or a hunt on Amazon.com to see which of their books have been translated.

An interesting and useful review, from October 2004, of some of the translated works of 'Yasmina Khadra'
