Bevk Perovic Arhitekti

Bevk Perovic Arhitekti designed a great student housing project in Slovenia for students at
Ljubljana University. The facade is made up of aluminum panels that can be opened up to
reveal balconies, or kept closed for more privacy. Perforations in the panels allow air and
light into the apartments, even when in the closed position. The panels create a dynamic
facade that is always changing to suit the needs of the inhabitants.

The Mile-High Tower

is a skyscraper planned for construction in Jeddah, Saudi
Arabia. As its name suggests, the tower will be built to a height
of one mile, or 1.6 kilometers. If the building reaches that
height, it would be 800 meters taller, that is almost double, than
the current tallest structure, the Burj Dubai.

The project is being planned by Al-Waleed bin Talal’s
Riyadh-based Kingdom Holding Company and it is understood
that it will be engineered by Great Britain’s Hyder Consulting, in conjunction with Arup, and constructed by Bechtel.
Omrania, a Saudi firm, is thought to be the project architect, in
collaboration with U.S. company Pickard Chilton.

The project is projected to cost US$10.7 billion.

U know.. it beacme like..mm what is the tallest tower in the world? AND Where...
GOT what i mean?
But, Walaken, as a matter of fact, many countries are in need of a horizontal expansion rater than the vertical one.

I agree br Eyad. You know, this kind of architecture makes me really angry rather than amazed. Especially while many wars and widespread poverty still exist around the world this kind of boastful, greed-driven, money-wasting, capitalistic, "taller-than-thou" structures should not be allowed anywhere in the world let alone in a "Muslim" country! (remember the Hadith on tall buildings!)
In place of many unnecessarily-wasteful or elitist multi-million/billion projects, millions of lives around the world can be saved and provided a better standard of living in no time!
But no! Fair wealth distribution is not in the fat cat's interest. It is much preferred to let charity organisations give just enough to keep the "rest" begging!
What's wrong with the world?
Where's people's conscience gone?
