What ever the number is, it is growing alarmingly and no one seems to care. The rationale behind their presence is a cheap and efficient labor, however they happen to never leave once the job is done. We all should be aware that Chinese people in general do not like to share with non-Chinese, they invade with their rapid growth and presense and take away what you have. Wait and see, soon Algerians will become the minority at least in cities like Algiers..... maa les chinois, al bak mayazghoudche and alkhoubz mataklouche. yakoutlouk b' al barad ou b' atmaskine and before yo know it, tar lahmame.

According to this report from January, 2007:

"...Algeria too has a large number of Chinese workers. Peng Guichen, in charge of labor services in Algeria under the China State Construction International Group, told 'People's Daily' there are more than 9,000 workers. Most of them were skilled, like electrical engineers, carpenters and bricklayers.

"The reason they are working here is very simple - to make money," Peng told the newspaper.

The monthly salaries ranged from US$400 to US$800."

Presumably those figures would be increased by Chinese engineering / construction personnel working on the East-West Highway project (at the time of the signing ceremony of “the project launching agreement” between his ministry and the Japanese and the Chinese companies who won the contract, Djamel Ould Abbès said that “77,122 new jobs are to be created among which are 54,776 jobs for Algerians while 22,346 will be allocated to Chinese and Japanese”), but perhaps the only way to obtain an accurate figure would be to contact the Chinese embassy in Algiers.

How many Algerians are in China (I mean the proportion to the inhabitants)....
A government that robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend on the support of Paul.

It's hard to imagine it's more than a billion Chinese we are talking about here, so my guess, Algerians in China is like a drop of water in the ocean
