Au moins deux bombes ont explosé, dimanche en fin d’après-midi, dans la région de Béni-Amrane, à Boumerdès, selon des sources sécuritaires. Les attentats ont fait au moins deux morts, dont un ressortissant français, et de nombreux blessés, selon un premier bilan provisoire.

Selon nos sources, les deux bombes ont explosé peu après 17heures à la gare de Beni-Amrane. Selon un bilan fourni par des témoins sur place, mais non confirmé par les services de sécurité, évoque au moins de 13 morts et plusieurs dizaines de blessés. Immédiatement après l’explosion, les réseaux de téléphones mobiles ont été mis hors service, de crainte de nouvelles attaques terroristes.

Selon nos informations, les deux bombes auraient ciblé une entreprise française qui travaille sur le projet de remise en service du tunnel ferroviaire d'Ammal, endommagé récemment par un accident de train.

Selon l'AFP, les autres victimes ont été tuées par une seconde bombe qui a été déclenchée lorsqu'elles se sont portées au secours de l'ingénieur français, selon ces sources. Parmi ces victimes figurent des membres des forces de l'ordre et de la protection civile.

13 people dead in Algerian train station bombings

ALGIERS, June 8, 2008 (AP) — An Algerian security official says 13 people have been killed in two bombings at a train station in the North African nation.

The security official says the first bomb killed a French citizen and his Algerian driver.

A second bomb minutes later was apparently timed to explode as security forces and rescue workers arrived at the train station in Beni Amrane, 60 miles east of the capital.

Both bombs were apparently operated by remote control. The security official spoke on condition of anonymity because he wasn't authorized to talk to the media.

Official: 13 people dead in 2 Algerian bombings

ALGIERS, June 8, 2008 -- Two bombs exploded Sunday at a train station in Algeria, killing 13 people and wounding several others, a security official said.

Both bombs at the station in Beni Amrane, about 60 miles east of the North African nation's capital, were apparently triggered by remote control, the official said.

The first bomb killed at least two people, including a French citizen working on a project to repair the station's rails. He was leaving the site in a car, the security official said. His Algerian driver was also killed.

A second bomb minutes later was apparently timed to explode as security forces and rescue workers arrived at the scene, said the security official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to media.

Though the overall death toll was 13, it was unclear exactly how many people were killed in each attack, he said. Several other people were wounded.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility. Algeria's al-Qaida affiliate, al-Qaida in Islamic North Africa, is known to be active in the area.

Islamic militants in the country have mounted increasing attacks over the past two years. A suicide attack on a military barracks and a second bombing at a cafe shook a beach neighborhood outside the Algerian capital of Algiers on Wednesday, wounding six people. On Thursday, a roadside bomb killed six soldiers in Boumerdes.

Deux Français tués dans le double attentat de Beni-Amrane

Dimanche 8 juin 2008 -- Deux ressortissants français ont été tués dans le double attentat qui a ciblé un chantier du groupe français de travaux publics Razel à Beni-Amrane, dans la wilaya de Boumerdès, a appris toutsurlalgerie.com de source sécuritaires. L'information a été également confirmé par un responsable de la SNTF à Alger.

Au moins 11 Algériens, dont des membres des forces de sécurité, ont également été tués dans cette attaque terroriste, selon la même source. Plusieurs autres personnes ont été blessées.

A Paris, le ministère français des Affaires étrangères a déclaré être "en train de vérifier en relation avec les autorités" algériennes l'information concernant le décès d'un ressortissant français dans cet attentat.

Rail station bombs kill 12 east of Algiers

ALGIERS, June 8, 2008 (Reuters) - Two bombs exploded on Sunday at a railway station east of Algiers, killing twelve people including eight soldiers and two French engineers, security sources said.

The bombs went off at close intervals in the town of Beni Amrane in Boumerdes province, around 50 km (30 miles) from the capital, they said.

The soldiers were accompanying Frenchmen working for French water engineering company Razel when their convoy hit the bombs planted next to the station, according to one security source.

Another security source had said earlier that two people were killed.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the bombings, the third deadly attack in five days in the coastal region east of Algiers.

Six soldiers were killed in the same province on Thursday when their convoy hit a bomb planted by rebels.

A day earlier, bombs killed two people near a military barracks in Bordj El Kiffan, about 25 km (15 miles) east of the capital.

Al Qaeda Organisation in the Islamic Maghreb has claimed responsibility for a string of bombings in the North African country including a twin attack on a court building and U.N. offices in Algiers in December in which 41 people were killed.

Bernard Kouchner condamne le double attentat de Beni-Amrane

Dimanche 8 juin 2008 -- Le ministre français des Affaires étrangères Bernard Kouchner a exprimé dimanche son «sentiment de révolte» face à la «violence terroriste aveugle» après les deux attentats qui ont coûté la vie à une douzaine de personnes, dont deux ressortissants français, à Beni-Amrane, dans la région de Boumerdès.

"Je viens d'apprendre le double attentat qui a endeuillé l'Algérie en causant la mort de plusieurs personnes, dont un ressortissant français. Je veux dire mon sentiment de révolte et ma condamnation absolue face à cette violence terroriste aveugle que rien ne peut justifier", a déclaré le ministre dans un communiqué publié dans la soirée.

"Mes pensées vont aux familles et aux proches des victimes, si cruellement et injustement frappées. Elles vont aussi au peuple et aux autorités d'Algérie, qui combattent avec courage et détermnation le fléau du terrorisme. Leur combat est aussi le nôtre", ajoute M. Kouchner, sans donner plus d'indications sur ces attentats.
