SPIDERS, DO YOU LIKE THEM OR HATE THEM?
Wherever I go in my house these days I find SPIDERS ! Small ones, big ones, long legs, short legs, dark black, brown, you name it...And I have tried to be good and avoid squishing them. But they keep coming back, especially now that the nights are colder.
I tried to put up with them in the bathroom, the kitchen, the hall and the living room. But, when it comes to the bedroom, I feel that my 'territory' has been invaded and to ensure they are not coming back, I tend to reach for the fly spray...I know, it's cruel but the thought that they might crawl onto my face, and who knows into my mouth, when I am asleep is just eww!
The dilemma is, should or shouldn't we kill them?
What do they feed on in the house? Are they useful? Dangerous or harmless? Should we let them multiply and thrive in our houses? And what about the claim that killing spiders brings bad luck ?
Any answers / comments are very welcome.

Aaargh! Another spider in my bedroom...
... and it's SO big!!!
Well, guess what, I didn't kill it this time. No fly spray, no squishy squashy nothing! I just grabbed a dirty sock (smelly!), slipped my hand in it and gently approached the spider, which didn't move, as a survival tactic (play it cool...like dead... less chance of being noticed). Then I swiftly but softly grabbed IT and headed for the window to throw it out. ( Washed hands of course!)
I know this is ridiculously trivial...
... but I feel better for not killing it. So, next time you are in a similar situation before deciding to end the life of a spider, think. You've got a choice, a life and death choice. Phew!
Sorry guys and gals...
This is real life experience!

Our family method is to use a pint glass and sheet of paper then chuck it outside. Only bad thing is when the spider is sooooo big that its legs get caught in the edges of the pint glass. When nobody else is home and I am too scared to move the spider, I try to get my pets to eat it, at least this way its the circle of life.
Any other methods?

erm... i think it's a sunna to kill spiders and snakes if they are in your presence and can harm you.
Look at what i found in yahoo answers:
In Islam, it is allowed to kill anything that can harm you, and especially if it is in your home. So, spiders, flies, mosquitos, cockroaches .... etc are okay to kill.
Actually I was surprised that no one mentioned that there is one animal that you actually get rewraded to kill. That animal is the lizard. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) encouraged his followers to kill the lizard or what it is called in Arabic (Al Wazaga الوزغة) and by that I mean house lizards.
The reason for this is that the lizard is considered as a damned animal. The story goes in the times of Prophet Suleiman where he and his army were hiding from the army of his enemy in the woods, and as we all know, Prophet Suleiman's miracle was being able to talk to animals. So all the animals were trying to distract the enemies when they were looking for Prophet Suleiman and his army except for the lizard which was using its tail to point towards the places that they went.
Another story, when Prophet Ibrahim was to be burned alive all animals were trying somehow to kill the fire while the lizard was blowing on it to make it bigger.
That's what we've been taught since we were kids, wallahu Aalam.
Killing the lizard is good and I am 100% sure of it, and here is the proof:
عن أبي هريرة قال قال رسول الله : من قتل وزغة في أول ضربة كتب له مائة حسنة ، وفي الثانية سبعين حسنة . رواه مسلم .
http://www.mutdawl.net/forums/showthread…
Prophet Muhammad (PBHU) said: Who kills a lizard in one stroke gets 100 hasana, and who kills it in the second stroke gets 70 hasana. And the reasons are as shown above. It seems as if one fails to conceive
The meaning my name strives to achieve
To a biological form you cannot relate-
Because a reproductive cell is a gamete not gamate!
It means to unite, -to become consolidated
So without me in a.com, is there hope we'd be amalgamated?
