That was Mum 20 years or so ago...
---------------------------------------------------------
She was frustrated with all the chores she had to do day in day out for a large family. In those days, we had poor washing machines, much of the washing had to be done or redone by hand, al-kisra (home bread) had to be baked daily, couscous had to be prepared from scratch at least 2 or 3 times a week, plus endless cleaning, ironing, cooking etc etc.
The girls (sisters) of course helped, in addition to struggling with their school work, but the boys...no way. We messed the whole house up as soon as it was tidy, turned up for meals when it pleased us, and grumbled when our shirts and trousers were not ironed, and that was it!
*Have things changed today??
*Would girls rather be boys these days?
Somehow I doubt it. Girls probably have more fun in this day and age.
Or have I got it wrong?!

God bless sliced bread, ready made couscous and the local dry cleaner
Things have changed alot in a way, but my sisters and I are still the only ones who do any housework. My brothers feel it goes against their 'Masculinity'.

It would be more advantageous in my opinion to be a man regarding lots of things, but being a woman has its advantages and a LOT of advantages. However, in this down age and knowing it's wrong to say that, I would have preferred to be a man personally.

It has already taken over your life
