    OK here is another one:

    To number a book from 1 up to its last page took 552 digits.
    How many pages are there in the book?

    We have 552 digits

    Take away 9 digits for 9 pages:
    552 - 9 = 543 digits

    Take away [(99 - 9) x 2] digits for 90 pages:
    543 - [(99 - 9) x 2] = 363 digits

    Divide by 3 for the remaining pages:
    363 / 3 = 121 pages

    Total:
    9 + 90 + 121 = 220 Pages

    no?
