2) the time of commencement and completion is the same for both days (6am to 12pm)

Therefore there must be a point where he was present at the same time, finding this point is impossible though as he was climbing at a haphazard speed!

Simple to visualise by drawing to arrows one going up and the other down, they would obviously cross at some point depending on speed
