I wouldnt know khti, I didnt do research about this yet LOL I guess in Algiers many grooms wear a regular suit. In some parts of Algiers they still wear traditional groom clothes depending where they're originally from in the country.Originally posted by amina_imen
Actually reading what Houda wrote, it wouldn't surprise me that it is the case,
i.e. you can only buy the outfits in Algeria (get them tailored as is the case most of the time).
But I'm not sure really...
Khokom do you know?
On another note, these days, I think its best a wedding is kept simple and modest. Just put man and woman togather and let them start a happy life. There is no need for inviting 200+ people, all that hassle, all the changing clothes for the bride, and the big party, the preparation that takes weeks if not months ....etc I know people say its the most import day of their life, and they should make the most of it. But honestly, maybe some might be happier with just a small wedding, inviting family and close friends only. It also helps for the poorer families who cant afford a wedding.
Sometimes I see weddings where men and women mix and everyone dances togather, and cameras taking photos everywhere, some women not dressed properly. I dunno, maybe this happens with families who are westernly influenced. But I dont see it as a proper traditional Algerian wedding. It will never be. In an Algerian wedding, men are seperate from women.
Just my input anyway. I would like to read what others think.
Take care,
Khokom.

what weddings are like in Algeria whether we like it or not that is the reality.
I didn't want to give a biased opinion although I know lots of things can be hugely improved.
Weddings have become so costly that families would save for years, get stressed over
it, and the couple starts a 'blessed' life with huge debts!!
Add to that, the places where wedding celebrations take place these days...
a new fashion?!!
PS Sorry I thought you specialise in traditional Algerian male outfits, hence my earlier post

its a shame when you see people spending so much money on a wedding i true belive that a simple wedding is so much better then having dancers live bands and people shacking there booty everywhere! a wedding i went to had these dancers (they are most prob prostitues as most asian live dancers are) and they were on the stage dancing around and all these men went up and joined them throwing money all over them it was horrible.
thanx for all ur input guys its appreicated,
