TO Hana,
That s it I am living ! It has been a very fulfilling experience. It is my birthday this week and I m off to Hawaii to swim with the dolphins.( It suppose to be nirvana) cannot wait! So before I go I wanted to pay tribute, to this greate country, and most civilised nation on this planet!
HAIL JAPAN FOR YOU YOU WILL SURELY MISS IT ONE DAY.
Leaving Japan is not easy. I need to return home, but I know I ll miss it too much. I d miss my student, my collegues and the neighbors. I ll miss the man at the train station who says good morning to every single person who passes through the rush hour.I d miss the lady who comes over the loudspeaker in that sexy voice and says, Ladies and Gentelmen, welcome to the Shinkansen. I d miss the potted flowers that decorate the train stations and the main streets, and the fact that no one ever steals them. I d miss the warmth of yakitori shops in winter and the coolness of soba in summer. I d miss the varieties of osakana that you can find only in Japan, the gohan, free tissues and Kyoto in autumn. Id miss the cherry blossom, ohanae, kimonos and tea ceremonies. I d miss the ekissatten, the service, and free tea everywhere. Id miss the the subtle uniqueness of Japanese people, the guy who practices his golf swings in front of his house and the very old lady who sweeps the road out of respect for the passers by. I d miss the banks, the post offices ,takyubin.
I d miss the shop assistantes who says Erashay massen every time I walk in there. They bow and give me a big smile. I d miss the poeple who crowned me Queen, Wich has only made me humbel. I d miss my friends every time we met the acted as if I was the messiah, the bowing until their heads reached the ground.
Id miss the foreigners, and the way they salute me every where. It is like a sign, we belong together.
I d miss the generosity and the presents they give you daily. The Ekibana, and the way the wrape. I d miss Hakona and all the hot springs, where I have spend my week ends in the ultimate luxury.
My clients and the way I ve been treated, where else in the world would you be treated to a meal in one of the exclusive restaurant costing ten thousands dollars? When you thank your host he just say please don t mention it. This is only in Japan, what other country offers so many myths ? There is no other country where people work harder, longer hours than Japan. They shop, go to hair salon, held meetings in the middle of the night. I love Sundays in Japan all the shops are open and you don t get that melancholic feeling we dread in the rest of the world. Security is what I d miss most, the safety feeling you get in here is also unique. Only in Japan you pay cash for everything. What a thrill to see so much cash. The way you leave your main door open, the men leave their briefcases behind them on the ground while they buy a train ticket. No one will ever touch. The schoolgirls wears the shortest skirts and the fact that no one ever looks it is unique to Japan. Japan is a country where people love nature passionately, watching the leafs change colour is a national sport almost a religion. Japan is where you learn to give , be tolerant and put others before yourself. Okasun I d miss Japanese mothers and the way they get up at down to prepare obento. Picture perfect lunch boxes, for their children, that unclude a single girl still living at home and in her thirties.
Japan is I lucky place for me I have achieved a lots, reached my goals and even climed Fuji sun. I shall miss it a lots. I d love to stay longer and learn more...But my heart each for my loved ones.
Crowned in a far away country...Kanga
