Bonne chance,Originally posted by PirateSmile
Hi, Amina!
Still hanging in there about the situation, but have not heard anything. Hard to wait to find what's up; need to talk to him, but he's still in Algeria and won't be back to France until later this week. When he travels, it's not so unusual not to hear from him for a while, so....maybe there's still a chance. It's his choice. If he can decide to make a stretch and just wait a little longer, the reward for both of us is going to be amazing. I do not blame him for being frustrated by the distance, it's just that we're so close now to making that issue go away.
The waiting is the hardest part.

hullo Amina,
happy new year to you (and to all here!).
Glad to say that all's going pretty OK; will see him again in just a few short weeks (finally!). At that time, we plan a heart-to-heart and we'll see what goes from there.
I'll be sure to keep you posted after I get back.

Amina, Bibi Nasima, everyone...
Well, well, well. Back in the USA after several weeks in France. STILL NEED TO IMPROVE (a lot!!!!) on the speaking/listening but it's better than before. My colleagues have promised ALL FRENCH when I come; even though all of them speak English.
So, now for the big news (drum-roll, please):
My beau confirmed our rendez-vous and then was a NO SHOW and would not respond to my calls. SO...sincerely, I do not have room for a man like that in my life. Who does??? That fact does not help the heartache and the tears (waste of time, really - it's a mystery), but for sure that will pass with time...of course.
Things are moving now at lightning speed. A new person is moving into my house end Feb (coming from France)and will stay 3 months; serendipitous because I'm out of here soonafter and will not return until May. There's a lot to get ready and it's keeping me very busy.
Saw my temporary flat; it's verrrrrry tiny but right in the city so I can meet a lot of new people. I hope that while there I can be lucky and meet 1 person (or more!) outside the company with whom a long, true friendship emerges.
I spoke w/ a good friend yesterday; she has the same feeling I do...something crazy and wonderful is going happen while I'm away - a big change is coming. We just can't know what it is or what it will affect. Oh, I hope it's true.
Best wishes to all!!! And, happy belated Ground Hog Day. What a stupid holiday...I think that's why it's one of my favorites.

Thanks Pirate_Smile for the lil update.
I had a feeling you'd keep your promise and come back. Although the news is not quite what I expected!! Anyway, it's good you kept a positive outlook on life, I'm sorry to hear he wasn't serious about the whole thing or may be changed his mind along the way. I really hope you find happiness soon, and put the whole story behind you. As you said "...that will pass with time..."
Good luck with the new job experience in Paris and keep up the efforts with learning the French language!
