The Executive Council of the African Union (AU), comprising of the foreign ministers of the member countries, elected Algeria, Angola, Ethiopia, Gabon and Nigeria as the new members of its Peace and Security Council on Saturday (January 27th) in Addis Ababa. The new members will serve a three-year mandate, with the aim of resolving conflicts. The members represent their respective regions - with Algeria representing Northern Africa.
